Hi, right away I'll apologize for sounding uneducated - when it comes to our boat, I am. My husband was seriously injured in an accident. While he will fully recover, it will take time and much is left to me - like selling the boat.
It is a 1985 Crestliner Nordic, 16', 70HP OB Marnier PTT, and a walk through windshield. We bought it new, it has a shorelander roller trailer, and all are in excellent condition. It also has a partial top that snaps onto the windshield and down the sides -
The seats are the back to back style and there is seating up front.
It has an inboard (?) gas tank and a bilge (?) pump. I'm sure there is more info I should be providing. We live in MN and it has always been winterized and stored inside.
I just want a fair price - and not taken advantage of because I'm a gal. I tried a NADA lookup but got really confused - thank you for any direction or advice.

Re: Help please, need to price my boat

Well heres the advice i can give you. Being from Minnesota and having had a similar boat, I might be able to help. I just sold an 86 Crestliner with a 90hp for 3800. In my opinion, I got very lucky. I was thinking to see around 2500-3000 and not a penny more. A sale depends on alot of things. You need to make sure that you find the right person to buy it. If you can do that, They might think its worth gold. Good luck with the sale.

Hi, and thank you. I would have thought it was worth more, so would have overpriced it. It is pretty much pristine, and has extremely low hours on the thing. I'd say the last 10 years or so we maybe used it 7 times a season, and not out very long. But it is what it is, and I'm grateful for your advice.

Just remember you can always take the price down but can't take it up. Start higher and work from there. NADA is useless because it doesn't take into account the shape the boat is in. If it is pristine then you should start at 200% of NADA. You can also try to ask a local marina what they would sell it on their lot. I'm sure if you explain you situation you could find someone reputable to help you.

Thanks, that's helpful advice. I've decided to wait until spring as I have covered storage for the winter. I don't think I can double NADA, but my gut says about 3/4 of double would be about right and go from there. Again, thanks - I appreciate any and all direction.

Spring time is the best time to sell a boat, if you can wait until then, you'll get more for it. Location will dictate what the boat is worth, if you were in this area and the boat is pristine, you could see $5k easily. As rndn suggested, maybe take it to a marina and see if they can sell it for you. Hope your husband makes a full recovery!

Re: Help please, need to price my boat

Thank you - I think (hope) I am pretty clear in the direction I'll take. I will go over it and clean it within an inch of its life again in the spring after being in storage all winter. As of now I'll probably start at 4800 to 4500 and go from there. We're in MN where we are known for our lakes and I think it will go quickly if I make sure it's ready to sell about a month or so before the fishing opener.
On a side note, my husband is doing better than expected - a trend we hope continues, but he feels his boating days are over, so have to respect that. Hopefully, come spring, he'll be up to the "bartering" end of the sale.
I can't say thank you enough to those of you who responded. I am grateful and many many thanks!!!

Re: Help please, need to price my boat

I have a 1750 SportFish that I gave $2750 for. I bought if from a guy that only used it a couple of times a year. Its a 1994 Model. The boat was in near perfect condition when I bought it. It didnt have any scratches on it, and still had the factory aluminum prop on it with all the paint. My point is, and not to sound like a butt, but your boat is 9 years older than mine and I gave half of what you are asking. I really hope with your situation that you get $4800 for it, but I dont think it will ever happen. A 1985 aluminum boat with a 70, which is basically like the little brother to my boat is worth $2000-$2500 tops.

You can see a picture of my boat in the Crestliner Forum under owner pictures. My boat is pristine, and there is no way I could get $5k for it, and mine is fully loaded with the good electronics and wireless trolling motor.
