To begin with...I need the proper ratio (oil/gas) for the following please>

mariner 4hp serial>od994186 model>3f9
evinrude 35 hp serial>eooo3444 model>35852r
521cc I am assuming this is a 1985
and the are both prob 50:1.
The mariner worked fine last year, i got new gas yada/yada, it ran well (opened up) for approximately 1 minute or so, then it bogged down and stalled. I repeated this 3 times and got scared, lol. It ran reasonably well at 1/2 speed and idled ok. It sounded really bad!!

Secondly, the evinrude started ok and idled soso, however, anytime I throttled more than @ 1/4 power it would stop its 4ward progress. Seemed like it was missin on crank? very strange!
If i returned to 1/4 power it would engage.

fellas(girls) I would greatly appreciate any insight and ty vmuch for your time!!!
GRR my family lol..my brother lost the mariner manuel and i got the 35 ev from my g-pa(bless his heart)

ty, aiko

Welcome aboard iboats Aiko!

Can't help much on the Mariner. If you would post the same questions over on the Mercury/Mariner forum, I'm sure you would get the help you need.

Now....on the Rude 35 horse....

The model number indicates it's a 1978.

Want to ask a question here...When you hit 1/4 throttle, does the engine rev high and you don't go no where? Forward progress stops while the engine revs up? If so, this sounds like a spun hub in the prop. Easy way to check this. Make a referrence line from the prop hub, where the rubber is, out to the outter hub. Use a bright magic marker or something that won't wash off. Take the rig out and after it does the high rev thing again, check the referrence marks. Did they move? If so, the hub is spun. Take it to a prop shop and get it rehubed.

Keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask any questions. Thanks.

You cannot install a hub yourself. A prop shop must do this, as they are pressed fitted into the prop. And on the Mariner, I would remove and clean the carb out using cleaning fluid and compressed air to clear the passages.
