I think I found my problem overheating . No water is getting to the motor from my outdrive. There are some O-rings that need to be replaced between the SUSPENSION FORK and the intermediate housing. Its right below the hose connection that takes the water out of the outdrive to the motor. Someone told be to put a clear hose on the raw water elbow thats just inside the hull that leads to the brass tube that goes to the heat exchanger to see if more air than water is coming in. In fact, I pulled an O-ring out with my fingers today that was between the SUSPENSION FORK and the intermediate housing! I will do that tomarrow. My question is.......in simple terms ....where do I start to get to these areas. I know I drain all the oil out first.
I have a diagram of what goes where...Any help is appreciated.

(I have checked all the easy fixes like the impellar, raw water strainer, silt/sand in heat exchanger, gummed up exhaust port holes and thermostat.)

Well first off get a manual.Don't try to get factory Volvo one ,they are quite bad.Go get a Sealoc or Clymer. When you have that you can get started by draining the oil from the drive and removing it . Then take off the upper and lower part of the drive so all you are left with is the middle part. Then remove the hose union and push out the tube. This can be tough so take you time .Also make note of the location of the plastic and stainless steel spacers as well as the reverse lock assmbly.Make sure you replace the bushings and or bearings and seals in the h-fork , they to can cause air suckage if there is to much play.

Re: HELP..Please!!!

Thank you for that. I will do that. Do I have to take out all the gears in the upper and intermediate? What part is the h-fork? Oh..Is it the one that holds the Intermediate Housing?

Thanks!

Rob

Re: HELP..Please!!!

No you don't have to remove any gears or do any shimming . Remove the 2 allen head bolts and 2 nuts then disconect the shifter arm to remove the upper. However there is a shim or shims between the upper and the mid section DON'T LOOSE THEM or forget to put them back. The h-fork is the SUSPENSION fork, I've just always called it a h-fork because it kind of looks like one, sorry about that.

Thank you...It sounds like I could do this myself then. I'll just watch for those shimms you mentioned. This forum has helped me alot. :D
