Does anyone out there know the correct order, or procedure on checking spark problems.
From what i understand the Trigger would be the first to test, then stator, coils and power pack?
Being that the current from the battery would first hit the trigger and go on down the line.
I am having trouble believing my local boat shop on there diagnoses of my spark problem.
Service manager says that my stator is bad, and possibly my power pack....after talking to the mechanic he just tested my trigger, and said that he gets no reading off three of the four leads, but a faint reading off one of the leads.
It looks true to fact after testing the trigger it is bad, but how can they say my stator is bad when there is no current going to it from the bad trigger?
Maybe i am confused about the testing order, but would it seem logical that if the trigger is bad, the stator would not work?
Perhaps there is a way of jumping around the trigger to test the stator? But the shop is not telling me they did that, just tested the trigger, and assumed the rest was bad down the line.
Then again they could replace the trigger, then just say everything else is bad....prices through the roof into outerspace....just looking for some guidance in this delema.....thanks....jas....
