Help rinker boat 3.8L

I have a 1983 rinker boat 17 ft with a 3.8l omc. I didn't winterize the engine it froze an broke the block bad. For my question Ok 3.8l omc what is that it says gm on the intake I'm trying to figure out what kind of gm motor that is an what automotive car engine will work in it's place. Thanks for any help guys





I have the engine serial off the engine it's j771016

229 cubic inch Chevrolet V6
1980-1984 rear wheel drive cars:
Malibu, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Caprice
never found in any trucks, and watch for the distributor at the rear like your boat because some of these cars (about 20%) also shipped with the GM corporate 231 Buick.
Avoid 1978 and 1979, those were 200 cubic inch. It's the same engine externally, but you need the 229.

Did your exhaust manifolds freeze too? That's a $1200 Osco conversion if so.
