I ran out of gas the other night out on the boat. I filled it up right after but could not get it to start. It turned once but quickly died and wouldn't start again, even the next day. I don't think it is the battery because it is turning in each attempt but won't start up. Please help!!!

Boat is a 93 Formula 232 if that will help. Never had a problem starting before i ran out of gas.

You're going to have to crank it for a while to get the fuel back up to the carb. Don't continuously crank it, crank for 15-20 seconds and then let it sit for a mintute or so to let the starter cool off. Another trick ( only if you're safe and mechanically inclined) is to take the flame arrestor off, and pour just a little gas down the carb, this will let the engine fire for a few seconds and the fuel pump will do its job. You will probably have to do the gas trick a few times. At any rate, don't run out of gas again it'll save you a lot of trouble getting it going again.

In the future when you have engine problems, read this thread before you post.

In this case, it doesn't really matter what engine it is or anything else. The system is dry of gas.
Pull the flame arrestor off the carb and pour a few ounces of gas in the carb. Set the flame arrestor back in place and start it. May only run for a few seconds the first couple of times, but it will be enough to prime the filter and carb so it will start without wearing out your starter.
