I am in the process of removing the old steering cable, I am having trouble. I have the pin out and also have the nut off that goes into the cylinder on the steering system. The cable is not attached at the wheel anymore. I can pull the cable out about 4 inches and then it gets stuck. The part where it was pinned into the transom is not moving at all.

It almost seems like that there is a sleeve inside the cable tube that is coming out and not the cable moving?

I need help please.

Thanks

Ayuh,... Sounds like it's corroded inside the aluminum tube...

Take it off, 'n beat the cable out, or replace 'em both...
