Hello, need help! Got a lead on a little 16 ft. (I'm told) boat and I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger. Not sure what kind of boat it is but I think maybe a late 50s Starcraft going by the bow and the lack of a lapstrake detail. BUT I could be totally wrong! No distinguishing marks. HIN was issued by the state so the previous/current owners didn't know anything about it either. Motor and trailer are included but it sounds like the motor (75 hp Chrysler) hasn't been run in at least 8 years. Would be looking to turn this into a little run about. Any advise, wisdom, suggestions, warnings, etc. are welcome. Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard.

Don't think it's a Starcraft. Lack of lapstakes is one reason and the chine is too high. SC decks are even with the chine and it's clearly visible inside.

Add a windshield after replacing the deck, which appears to be pressure treated plywood and is not good for an aluminum boat and you have a runabout.

Yes sir, the deck would be first to go. I don't want to get to fancy with it. Even if I can't figure out what exactly it is I still may pick it up for a little project. Thanks for the reponse!
