Is the deck beneath it rotten? Did the screws simply pull out? What are we dealing with?

Ahhhh, that's an easy fix.

1. Remove battery.

2. Take battery to dealer.

3. See which new boat the battery fits.

4. Buy boat.

:D :D :D

Just kidding ya.

Got a picture of the problem. We can be so much more helpful with pics.

Re: Help w/ Battery Tray

It appears that the screws just worked loose over time. The deck is solid when I mash/knock on it. Itried to use the plastic inserts and then screw the tray down - didn't work.
I have to admit Mark42's suggestion is tempting. I went to the Boat Show a couple of months ago. Shouldn't have done that.

Re: Help w/ Battery Tray

Pick up a 'hypodermic' tube of epoxy. Get the good marine grade. Run a drill bit through the holes to enlarge a little and help clean out. Then fill with epoxy. If you need to keep the epoxy from falling through the holes, put some masking tape on the bottom side of the hole. If you can't get to the underside of the hole, roll up a ball of masking tape and stuff down the hole as far as it can go without falling out. Then fill with epoxy.

After epoxy is set, drill new pilot holes and re-attach battery tray.

If you want to speed up the whole process, fill in the old holes as per above, then place the battery tray about an inch off set from old location, drill pilot holes and reattach.

Of course, if you had a new boat this whole proceedure would not be necessary!

Re: Help w/ Battery Tray

If the floor is solid except the original mounting holes are now bad, drill four new holes in the tray and re-mount it.

Please do it Marks way so battery acid does not get through the floor. Or water to rot the floor.
