HELP-Water tube from water pump

Hello
I have a 1991 Fourwinns,225 Sundowner,5.7liter with King Cobra out drive.
On the water pump is a small ruber hose that feeds more water to the prop area and it was cracked so I had to trim 3/8" off of it and than put it back on the barbed fitting on the water pump housing.
I had to pull it all the way out of the lower unit and feed it back in,it slid out very easy.
But now I dont know if it has to be put back in any special way or does it just lay inside the lower unit and the water get to where it has to go.?????

Thats not to feed water to the prop area, that sounds like the raw water pickup tube feeding the engine recirculating pump, that hose needs to be attached to a fitting in the transom bracket, I would investigate that a little further for sure, your saying the hose is just shoved into the lower and you can pull it out?
Wait a minute, are you talking about the impeller pump on the drive? that has a little air purge tube

Yes I guess you can call it a impeller purge line,when motor is running it pushes water out and down to the prop area it is about 1/4"ID rubber hose that is just pushed onto a barbed fitting at the impeller housing and goes thru a hole in the lower unit and it was cracked and squirted out water.
So I trimed it and put it back on,but was not sure if the open end had to be routed anywhere special in the lower unit.

Any Ideas on this tube will helpI just dont want the tube to mess with anything in the lower unit.

It's just a purge tube push it back in the hole.

Thanks a bunch now I can put my worries to rest.At the price of these lower units I sure did not want to mess things up.
