I have a princecraft resorter dlx fishing boat, 14.5' and I was looking to replace the propeller. The present prop has a locking washer that slides on and drops over 2 tabs on the back side of the prop. After I add the nut, there are a couple of other tabs on the washer that bend against the nut, locking it in place.
I cam across a new prop that has the right attributes but it doesn accept a locking washer like my old prop did. Since my shaft doesn have a hole for a cotter pin. Do you know if a way I can confidently secure the nut?

We'll have to assume a couple of things since you didn't mention them but - assuming we're talking about a Mercury prop and you're replacing it with another Merc prop you can add the castle washer so the tabs have a place to bend into. If you're replacing the Merc prop with a Yamaha prop you can still add the castle washer.

Thanks, good assumption.
Yes it is a 40hp mercury outboard.
I tried to attach a picture of the new prop. Not sure what a castle washer is or if it willl fit this.

Bill

Ayuh,... It's the little do-dad that converts a prop without the locking tab pockets to be able to accept the locking tabs of the lock washer...
It's usually got inner splines to match the propshaft,+ slots, or pockets for the locking washer's tabs...
The locking tab pockets give the visual effect of a Castles turret, hence the name Castle Washer....
If you were doin' a cotterpin type, the nut would be a Castle Nut...
