I got a new boat with a 90 hp 1964 johnson/ evinrude super sea horse with a model number 90493s motor, and the wiring fried. I think the guy before me jerry rigged the whole boat, and i have it stripped to put new wiring in it... i kinda have an idea what to do but need a wiring diagram up to the control box and maybe to the options in the dash, but i can figure the dash if i know the purpose of the instruments. Please help me find wiring schematics... ps (do they still keep parts for boats past 20 years unlike in cars and atvs etc??

The wiring should be pretty simple. Figure out if the ign is magneto or battery-coil. If magneto, you need to ground the distributor primary coil wire to kill the spark. If battery coil, you need to provide power to the coil primary wire to generate the spark. You should see an external coil if the motor is battery coil.

The motor should have a choke solenoid. Does the motor have a generator?

You might try a library to see if they have a service manual for that motor. Quite a few wil have it.
