I am trading a Nintendo DS for a Crysler 20hp. I am quite happy with this deal as the DS was free (I found it) and I have a 15hp Eska pushing my 14foot FG boat. By all reports this will not be enough.

Pics of it:

The Crysler has some issues;Prop is good. Controls are tight. Forward and reverse.

Needs new bearings and seals in the base of the foot because the prop is loose.

The current owner says that shifting gears is hard as a result of this bearing issue.

If it is just seals and bearing; How much $ am I looking at? (I will do the work myself)

Could there be other problems that could result in the same symptoms? If so, what are they?

Thanks a bunch guys!!

Dealerships do not sell parts that far back. You will have to either get lucky on ebay or find an outboard junkyard in your area where you can find what you are looking for. Standard stuff like impeller, carb kits and fuel pump kits are still around but gears, and such can be tough if you arent lucky.

Have not done the trade yet... sounds like it would be as big of a headache as the Eska trying to find parts for it...

I suppose I will back out of the deal.

Thank you!

Provided the gears in there are all serviceable getting hold of the required bearings shouldnt be a problem. Any good bearing place should have what you need on the shelf. Not sure but FranzMarine might be able to help out with the seals, check first. Ofcourse, you wont know for sure what state the gears are in until the lower unit is pulled down which means you already own it.
