ok so i just bought a boat and motor from a friend of mine its a 15 foot sundance cc with a 60 hp tohatsu ( i think both are about a 94 vintage ) i had it running about 2 years ago for him but after i got it going he never ended up taking it out and it sat so where do i start ?? before that it sat since 2004
i was thinking carb kits(gas was leaking out of the carbs when i had it running before) but the pic of the kits on here shows what looks like 3 floats 3 carb bowl gaskets and 3 needles and 3 seats i was just wondering because it also said i need two kits per engine ?? ive worked on alot of johnnyrudes before and i have manuals for those but i dont know where to start with one of these nor do i wanna mess it up any help is greatly appreciated i also planned on doing a water pump and i need to know how to drop the lu? is it similar to a johnnyrude?
thanks

Re: help with a tohatsu 60hp

For carb specifics, we need to know whether it's a 60A, B or C. If it's an A model, parts will be very scarce. On the other hand, for the B and C... Both the 60B and C have 3 carbs. The Tohatsu part number 3F3871221M contains all the bits for all 3 carbs, so you only need the one kit. Part number 3F3652311M does the water pump for all 60 B and C motors. The LU is straightforward -- nothing unusual. I would highly recommend a Factory service manual, Part # 003-21036-1 before you get too involved.

Re: help with a tohatsu 60hp

I highly recommend the Factory service manual in preference to the aftermarket manuals. Covers all 3 & 4 cylinder 2-stroke models. Part # 003-21036-1. $44.17, available from any dealer, including me. The wires and tube could be almost anything. You'll know more if you take the top cowl (cover) off and trace the source of those strange things.

Re: help with a tohatsu 60hp

Right... You have a 60B. Serial 11105. The Factory carb kit includes gaskets, float & needle valve. One kit repairs all 3 carburetors. Fits: 60B ~ 70C 2-stroke models. Part # 3F3871221M $125.48, available from any dealer, including me. As a dealer, we usually don't get involved with the aftermarket motor parts, unless a factory part is unavailable, or obscenely priced.
