Gina, I don't think removing the prop is going to fix that which is wrong with your motor. The problem could be in a variety of locations. It could be in the gearcase (transmission) behind the prop; it could be in the linkage as it moves up the motor to the control cable; it could be the adjustment of the control cable itself; or it could be in the control box at the steering wheel. First, though, we need to know the horsepower. It's usually on the motor cover in large lettering. We also need to know the model number. It's usually found on a metal nameplate somewhere on the bracket that fastens the motor to the back of the boat. Post this info and any other symptom as well as what you or your husband have done to trouble-shoot.
