There is a dial on the back of my tachometer that is ordered in the following sequence 2, 3, 4, 6, 5

From these forums I know that your tach must be set to the number of cylinders for your motor, but I was confused when I saw the layout. I was expecting to see 4, 6, 8.

I have a 4 cyl motor. Should I be set at 4? It was set on 2.

Re: Help with dial on back of tachometer

That really depends on who made the tach, and what method they used to determine the settings.. Install the tach, and then change the dial until the rpms match what the motor is doing... it will be extremely obvious when you move the dial, if you have the right setting or not

4 will probably give you 8 cylinders, so I would for sure start with 2 being my obvious choice...
