Help with evinrude 35514 repair

I have a 1958 evinrude lark 35 hp motor I need help with. Last time I tried to start it up the little piece in the picture broke on me. I've gotten a replacement part but now I cant figure out how to get the old one off. Anyone have a clue how to get to it without pulling the whole motor out?

Remove E-ring #91 and washer #45, then #70 will slide out. (1st picture)

Now #34 will wiggle out (2nd picture)

ty. im not sure if i found the e ring or not. that diagram doesnt look exactly like mine. this is the only ring like thing i found in the assembly. is this the ring?

Ncm I found it. It was covered in grease. Now to get it off without having one of those ring tools.
