Help with Evinrude 9.9

I have a 1979 Evinrude 9.9 and I would like to convert it from a shortshaft to a longshaft. Does anyone know where I can find the parts to do this and how difficult of a job is it to do? Thanks.

Thats an easy one, <br /><br />you need to find the lower unit from a similiar motor and swap them over..<br /><br />Its a 79 model, so new parts are gonna be thin on the ground..<br /><br />a 79 9.9 hp should be pretty cheap.. look in your local rags.. we get motors of that vintage and size showing up really cheap every 3 weeks or so.. if you can get a decent whole motor for around 100 bucks then you just scored yourself a heap of spare parts and the bits you need to convert.<br /><br />couse it might just be easier to stick your powerhead on the other unit... <br /><br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank
