Hi
I have 85 235hp v6 which I just have a question about .
on the fuel in it has 2 barbed fittings, the previous person has cut the inside pipe and outside pipe attached to it and blocked, what was this for as the other one is the fuel in?

also it says on my cover VRO 235, what is VRO and in the parts online shops it has a section for VRO which shows like oil injected or something similar to this, can someone shed some light as i dont have an oil tank on the motor anywhere.

cheers

Re: Help with hose and VRO?

The VRO (variable ratio oiling) has been disconnected. You must pre-mix your fuel 50:1. The VRO system has taken some hits over the years and some folks would rather mix the fuel and oil themselves rather than rely on the VRO to do it for them.

The oil tank was mounted in the boat for these engine, the second barbed fitting was for the hose from engine to oil tank. Without looking at the engine hard to tell what you need. Alarm system working?

You may need a pump kit, with 4 wire upgrade, pump bracket,
Lots of hoses, oil tank kit, inline filter, lots of tie wraps/clamps.

My guess without looking up pns is well over 5/7 hundred dollars.

Re: Help with hose and VRO?

I just had a 1985 90 VRO converted to a VRO-less set up. The tank and lines were questionable and the only area guy that told me to keep it and stay up on top of maint to make it run right was a Merc guy. Everyone else said to ditch it. I converted mine over to the standard OMC fuel pump for just under $300.

The tank in mine was under the transom splash pan next to the battery.
