Will try to be as brief as possible, this boat was giving to me and was told motor wont turn over, It is a 1992 four winns with omc/evinrude 175 V6 loop charged. I dont know the year and model number because the small plate with the info is all beat up and no longer visible ( motor and boat are cosmetically in great conditions) im assuming the motor is same year as the boat but not sure, i do have the serial number from the engine block. The first issue is to find the exact model and year, but i guess i will find that out very soon with your help or a dealer. Here is the second issue and the main reason I decided to post, about the wont turn over, i took the starter out and find out that there a bendix inside the flywheel cover that is completely lose and not engaging when you crank the motor so now we know why wont turn over. I took the flywheel cover off and can move the motor by hand no problem, here is where i’m stuck, even know i dont know the motor year and model number, the starter has it own model number and when i search for the starter online, all of them are come with no bendix but the one there now has a bendix, plus another bendix inside the flywheel cover, so basically i need someone to explain me how the whole system work so i dont waste money ordering parts like crazy.
