I'm new to boating and need to order some seats and covers for the boat I just purchased. on the title it just says 1998 Regal 17ft. it has an original Volvo penta 4cyl 3.0 engine and the hull ID number is RGMAD132C898. how do I go about finding out what I have to order the correct parts. thank you.

Regal offered three 17' boats in the 1998 model year;

1. 1700 LSR
2. 1700 XR-2 (this was jet powered)
3. 176 Valanti

The Valanti had V6 power standard, so assuming your boat's engine is original, you almost certainly have a 1700 LSR.

Does your boat look like this?

yes it looks like that. I lost the seats that go on each side of the motor. they flew out. they were about 18inches square and about 3-4 inches thick.

I'd also like to get parts to fix 2 gauges. the fuel is Intermitent and the trim gauge don't work at all. and does anyone know of the Volvo penta 4cyl 3.0 normally makes a ticking noise when running. thanks

Ask the ticking motor question in the Volvo I/O forum....

Gauges were likely made for Regal, not by Regal, so not model dependant, even if the guage face reads Regal And I'm 99.999% positive knowing the model wont help w the seats.

For seats, go to a local upholstry shop or make them yourself. Matching old vinyl is going to be tricky, even if you find NOS, it wont match, it wont be sun faded

Good luck

When it comes to boats it really doesn't matter what make/model it is for most of the parts. When it does come down to make/model specific parts you will have a hard time finding anything.

Your going to have to make the seat cushions or have them made.

Gauges are probably old teleflex gauges or faria gauges. If Teleflex, look at Sierra gauges (old Teleflex gauges, new manufacturer, sold thru Sierra to outlets like iBoats)

I just reread my post. It was typed on my phone. It should read. " When it does come down to make/model specific parts you will have a hard time finding anything. " It is past the edit time.
