I just a bought a 79 IMP Aztec (I think its an aztec) with a GM 350 and an OMC outdrive. Finally was able to get it into the water and noticed a nice leak water leak coming from the engine. I am pretty sure its a casting plug. If you are standing in the boat facing rear, its the left side closest to you. This appears to be behind a motor mount. Anybody have any tricks for replacing this particular plug w/o removing the motor? I do have a forklift available to support the engine if needed from above.

Popped core plug is from freeze damage, Is the oil contaminated?
A stringer you might get away with supporting the motor , Cobra you need to pull the drive first, then raise the motor.

I have not checked the oil yet. I pulled the boat out and parked it as it was starting to get dark. Will do more investigating today. How do I tell the difference between the stringer and the cobra?

You have a stringer unless it was repowered...Cobras came out in 1986..
Also the stringer has the big rubber boot around the drive.

Thanks guys. I was able to support the motor with a forklift and remove the motor mount on the front left side and replace the freeze plug. I discovered that I really did not need the forklift. I was able to get it back in the water and enjoy it. I did check the oil and found NO water contamination (whew!)
Thanks again.
