HELP I just changed the Impella on my 1994 150HPYamaha. Is this normal or not. As soon as the engine started up I did not have any water peeing out Now out of caution I turned it off. I did not let it run more then 5 or 10 seconds. Is this normal or should I let it run a bit longer to build pressure and see if it will come out?? The only thing that should be noted was when I replace the Impella with the new one. I had to use the old housing and the old stainless steel cup instead of the new one. The reason was the new stainless cup would not fit or lock into the old housing. On top the new cup was 2 raised tips and the old had just 1. So it would go back correctly I used the old cup. Do I have anything to worry about or did the Impella go on backwards??? If fit thur the knotch/key correctly. Im going to take it back apart and put the new housing. When I was replacing it the dealer did not have it in stock. Do I have anything to worry about. Thanks for any fast response. Help

Nothing wrong with using the old housing unless it was damaged.Make sure you put the housing back over the IMPELLER so it turns the right way and use all o-rings/seals provided in the kit. Look at a schematic or manual if you've never done one before

If you running it on a hose it takes a few seconds for the water to be pumped up into the motor. I use a plastic barrel i cut off and fill with water. The engine picks the water up much faster that way and you don't have to worry about the muffs falling off.

Did you rotate the drive shaft clockwise when you were pressing the housing down? If you didn't do that the blades aren't oriented correctly and you will get poor to no flow.
