Re: Help with model of 87 starcraft

Probably a Starcraft Magnum or Medalist glass rig. What's the length on it?

BTW there should be a data plate that shows the Model, HIN and HP/weight capacities.

Re: Help with model of 87 starcraft

If it's 16' in length then it's probably a Medalist, and since it's an I/O it is the 1601 model as far as I can tell. Good to get that new impellar in there. No telling when that old one was going to fail and burn up the merc.

This is from iboats info page on that model:

1987 Medalist 1601
The 1987, Medalist 1601 is a 16.27 foot inboard/outboard boat. The weight of the boat is 1025 lbs. which does not include passengers, aftermarket boating accessories, or fuel.

While this runabout does have a hull made of fiberglass, it is beneficial to keep the boat clean and dry by covering it properly while not in use. Good maintenance and care can help your vessel stay in good condition and have a higher value at resale. Applicable engine information has been included below since a boat needs reliable power.

Information on this page is provided to you as a free service of iboats.com. Because this information has come from many sources we can not guarantee its accuracy. Even if this information is the same as the original factory specs, boats are sometimes modified. Thus, for safety and other reasons, it is a good idea to verify information here to make sure it matches up with your boat. For additional information, we recommend the iboats forums and a boating safety course.

Yeah they were all built in NE Indiana...giving us Michigan boaters easy access to these quality old vessels.

They do pop up on the west coast as there are some dealers, but not nearly as many as the Great Lakes region.

Glad to hear you enjoy working on the rig, that will save you lots of $$. Keep in mind that they made some sweet aluminum rigs too if you feel the need to add to your collection. MBS is common on this site(multiple boat syndrome:D).
