I recently picked up a 1970 Larson Tri Hull. Nav Lights (Bow-red/green) and stern pole light do not work. The wiring under the dash looks like spaghetti tossed in a big bowl. There is a panel that is bolted to the dash. The left button on this panel I suspect is the horn. The next switch to the right on the panel is a toggle switch that illuminates the tachometer, then there is a cigarette lighter. The horn does not work; however the toggle switch to the right does illuminate the tach and the cigarette lighter works. There is no ground coming off of the cigarette lighter, which is why I suspect that the panel that these switches are on serves as the ground. The 2 way switch to the right of the steering wheel is the nav light switch. It has three white wires coming into it. I replaced switch which did nothing. Again, there are different colored wires that are spliced into each other and it is not an easy wiring schematic to follow. I am going to try to cut the wires at the base of the lights (bow and stern) and see if I have power after connecting to another power source. Any ideas on what I'm dealing with since neither bow or stern light works. I wish I could have a more simplified wiring harness where I can just plug in the leads. I suspect they did not have that luxury in the early 70's. Again, I need confirmation that the panel that the switches are on serves as a ground and how best can I figure out whats going on with the bow and stern lights. There is a battery switch and seems like all comes off the ground/negative of the battery.
