Howdy!

I'm restoring a 17' bowrider outboard (iBoats thread here) and I purchased a new Suzuki DF90A, they sent me this prop:

(It's stamped 3RX14X20P)

I'm assuming I'll most likely need to get it out on the water for a few hours to break it in before I can get a sense if I need a new prop. Does this seem like a reasonable prop for this type of boat / motor? I assume I'll need a prop swap if the motor won't reach the factory recommended RPM range? If so what prop pitch would I want instead?

Thanks for any info/tips.

you answered your own questions.. yup,, run it... see if you get to recommended WOT rpm range for your motor. every decrease by 1 in pitch... should increase your rpm's by 100-200.. or, a increase in pitch will decrease rmps by same....ballpark.... see what u got....

Thanks much! So if I'm actually over RPM at WOT I should be increasing my pitch?

To dial the correct pitch is a matter of knowing how loaded combo will be used, lightly loaded is one thing, heavily loaded is other. In any case don't go towards minimum wot range, which is ? preferable is middle to max wot rpm range, will achieve the best performance out of that horse.

Happy Boating
