I have a Lund 2007 Lund 1700 Prosport with a 2007 115 Optimax (1800lbs boat motor and fuel). The prop I have came with the set up. It is a Black Max 13X19. The motor is now mounted in the 3rd hole up (1-1/2" off the transom. Full fuel (21 USG) and 3 people & fishing gear. Hole shot is not bad, but when I add an extra 500+ lbs, it is a struggle to get out of the water. WOT & Max trim I am at 5250 rpm and 41.5 mph (gps). When trimmed to the limit, if I hit any significant waves, the prop looses grip and I have to trim down a bit to regain grip. I can make small steering adjustments without loosing grip, but have to trim in to turn any amount. This load would be average but I do run another 500+ lbs from time to time. The main thing I do is fish and travel fairly long distances over rough water but also do water sports with my son (tubing, knee boarding etc.) Top speed is not my ultimate goal, Handling and mid range crusing 3000 to 4000 RPM is important as well. I am wanting to buy a stainless prop and was looking at vengance, laser, trophy plus, appollo, stiletto and trubo. Price is not as improtant to me as performance. I am willing to pay more even for marginal improvemnts, but I really don't want to go to a jack plate.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

I can't recommend a specific prop but a stainless should elimimate
your venting problem and I think you need to be at least 5,500 rpm.
I think a 17" pitch will put you there. Also improve hole shot and help with that load.I'm sure the prop guys can be more specific.

I had a similar boat, 17? Crestliner with Merc 115 4-stroke. Came overpropped with 19? SS. Replaced with 17? Stiletto with good results. I?d stick with a lifting prop like the Tempest for top speed, though the Vengeance would be a good alternative with less lift for a loaded boat and tubing, etc. Good Luck, prop swaps are like rolling dice to me.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm thinking 17p too, but I am not sure how a Black Max compares to the various SS mentioned. I definitely want to gain at least 300 RPM.
