Just got done with the rebuild on a quadrajet. Now I have an issue as the factory manual states float level of 3/8" bt the rebuild kit states 7/32". To further complicate this, the factory manual states it is Rochester part number 17083522. The Caribs stamped 17074248, and I am good friends with the original owner. This is the original carb on the boat. I currently have set for 3/8 but would appreciate any assurance that this is the correct level. Thanks in advance

#2 It is a 17083522. Believe it or no there is a series of 8 numbers stamped in another location on the bowl assembly "17074248" but it is not the carb part number

In the past I have found that the mercruiser manuals tend to differ from carb manufacturer manuals. I believe this has to do with the constant change in angles while underway. Autos usually don't have the drastic change when they are in motion. On the Quadrajets and 2Gs the float level seems to be a little more so you don't suck air when trying to get on plane. I would always go with mercruiser specs just to be safe. Jeff
