help with strange problem....

hi guys,
i am replacing some hatches today when i decided to take the tank out of the boat for cleaning.. when i had the cover off of tank i noiced some little ant looking things not alot but i noticed they had eating thru my foam ..the foam actually had been eating up on the top and looked a little black. i dug a little and saw no ants but i could tell they hadbeen there. the floor and wood are strong no rott.. so how do i get this old eating up foam out ? im not taking floor up couse its good and strong but i have some bad foam in there.. also is there anything i can do if they are still are ants in the foam some where? any magical tricks guys?

ammonia kills ants but im not sure how it reacts with the foam? try windex. that will kill them instantly. hopefully if you can see the foam, no water has soaked into it.

Try buying a bomb for killing ants and other bugs. I would place it in the center of the boat, and cover the boat in plastic, try to make it as air tight as possible. (after activating the bomb of course) The chemical in the bomb will get into ever nook and cranie of your boat. If there are bugs, they will be gone after you do that.

if you want to cut the foam try an electric chainsaw with no oil make sure it's dull

try a little acetone and see if it disolves the foam..

A chemical called Styrene will turn foam into liquid instantly. Then you can sop that up with old towels.
