Re: help with tune up

I hope you got the wires for a Mercruiser & not for a Chevy. The Mercruiser application uses a longer run to get around those big water jacketed exhaust manifolds. Look up the plugs and fuel filter at the top of this page. If your fuel filter looks like an oil filter it's a fuel water separator that is also a fuel filter. Most places refer to them as a separator though. Lots of places have them, marinas, boat places, Walmart.
BTW, I like the NGK plugs the best. You can get them anywhere.
If your wires turn out to be wrong look into stainless core wires, I got a set a few years ago and it really woke my motor up.

Yup definitely got plug wires for a 4.3 chevy motor. So they won't be long enough for my 4.3 mercruiser?????

Plug wires on a car engine run across the top of the engine and down over the rocker covers. Can't do that with a marine engine, the exhaust manifolds get in the way, instead they run down from the distributor, along the back of the engine, around the corner along the head (under the manifolds) to each plug. 'Standard' auto wires is way too short... Get a set for a V8, then toss the 2 shortest wires and use the rest. Also make sure you have the right coil to dissy lead. It's NOT the same as a car one....
