Re: Help with year and type of drive used on
Hard to say exactly, Volvo doesn't have a method of identifying the old stuff, even with serial numbers. BUT,........... we can do some checking here. Just by the clamp bracket (where the bellows attaches) I see a single hole for the attachment where the helmet attaches. It looks to around 3/4" diameter threaded hole. There are 2 single hole models, one with an approximately 3/8" dia hole and the larger one like yours appears to be. Then there is the one with 2 threaded holes (newer models)
My guess is that it's a 270 or 275 outdrive, maybe an early 280. A 250 would have had a screw head sticking out of the boss up there above the dipstick screw, in that long protrusion on the upper cover.
It can be used with any single prop outdrive with the proper helmet pin type. Small threaded ones and large threaded ones had different helmets.
