help yamaha 225 vmax /2001

today i was running about 5000 to 5200 rpm was running good but when coming back to idle started to sound like no power or out of fuel and died tried to restart and it was like the battery was dead got it on the trailer with motor in water tried to start slow to start but finally would start and die put in fast idle very low power and died any sugg. where to start or what it could be sounds fuel related but does not explain why it sounded like battery was dead thanks bass dude

What was engine temp during all this? Sure sounds like an overheated engine trying to seize.

not sure no over heat light came on no buzzers

I am with JB, however I hope we are wrong.
Time to start with the basics.
test starter voltage, search the forum for V drop test. test spark,search again for a home made spark tester.
test compression.
if the spark and compression pass move on to fuel.
I dont have my stuff with me here in caracas so a bit more info would help. is this a 3.1L motor with efi or a 3.1 with carbs?
