i am replacing the floor on my 92 sunrunner does anybody know what type of wood i could use or should i get some sort of marine plastic i am concerned about the wieght on the boat ,it isnt the same sunrunner that they have in the manufactures section it was built buy a company on long island thats out of bussiness it not a cruiser it more of a small offshore racer thats why i worried about the wieght any help or info on the boat or company would be greatly appreciated it hac a chevy 350 marinized by volvoand its 21 feet with a little cuddy cabin thanks jeremey

No, I don't recommend plastic - for example StarBoard. It has zero structural integrity. And it's heavier than 5/8" ply. Use some AC plywood exterior grade and coat it good with polyster resin. Some folks say only do the facing side but I'm just from the old school and do both. You don't necessarily need to apply cloth or mat just the resin. All you're trying to do is make it waterproof. The strength will come from your lateral supports. Make sure you dry cut it first to fit, then do your resin. An epoxy resin would be a step up in strength but also a step up in price - the poly will suit just fine. :D
btw - a sheet of 4X8X 1/2" weighs 50 lbs

Most boat floors are 1/2 A-C exterior or marine grade plywood. Depending on how you install the floor you could add allot of weight in resins and cloth as well, so consider the entire package..
