on the mariner 25 what THING goes next to gear lever there are 2 screw holes about 4ins apart

not listed, iwas told it was a 2 stroke motor each time i put ser.# in . the page would bring up 4 strokes i sent in a pic. any help would be very helpful

Control cables are used if you had a steering wheel in boat and remote controls to control throttle and shifting. Motor has a tiller (the arm that comes out where you twist the throttle) on it right now correct?

It is a tiller and He nothing to worry about.

Thank You, I don't have a steering wheel.But here another one,I've tried to find the year of my motor,by the serial# but nothing comes up and when something does it comes up a 4 stroke i was told it was a 2 stroke. how can you tell the difference.
