Help !

I’m restoring my 19’regal bought a 3.0 mercruiser 140 up I want to start it to make sure it runs before installing into boat I can’t figure out which pins to jump for constant power and for which to use for push button to start it looks as if there’s 9 holes in there harness on motor one looks as if there’s no connector inside tried jumping 5 and 6 together for constant power and seven for start but that didn’t work but when I turn the switch on thati used to jump 5 and6 together it wants to turn over

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Skip the cannon plug, 'n hook jumper cable to the starter's battery lug, 'n the block for ground,.....
Then run a jumper wire to the coil's (+) terminal,.....
With the ignition now powered, jumper to the inside tiny terminal on the starter's solenoid, which activates the starter,.....
At that point, it oughta start,.....
To shut it off, pull the jumper to the coil's (+) terminal,....
