should a 1968 100hp eninrude stay running with the (pos) battery terminal disconnected?<br /><br />thanks roger

ok, here are the numbers that i have.<br />freeze out plug 100883b 100-s and the other one that i found ise06908. thanks for the help i'm still new at this. roger

That engine has "Battery Capacitance Discharge" ignition. Removing the positive battery cable while the engine is running is an excellent way of causing damage to the powerpack and the charging rectifier.

ok, well the only reason that i was asking was because the motor was running and the pos battery terminal where it srews on with a wing nut had busted of and the motor died. like i said i'm still new at this and was not sure if the boat motor charged like a car motor where u can remove the pos lead and the motor will stay running.<br /><br />thanks for the info and have a nice day!! :mad:
