Well Got my 93 Starcraft done and A1. Then this guy has to over me a trade. And it hAS TO BE A THOMPSON 24 FOOT HARDTOP 305 MERCRUISER. Now let me tell you. That was a charter boat i always dreamed of owning. Not fast but a great fishing platform with class.
But like everyone else I know they have had their share of rotten wood. Im going up this weekend to see it. And need some tips what to look for. This boat they say hasnt been tied to a dock much,. Which i figure is a big plus. Is there away to spot some of this. I have thought of a surveyor. But on these one told me there isnt a lot of stringer they can check.
Also Im not totally against redoing it if its in my power. Figured if i checked transom and the stringers in the engine box i would have an idea.
Also how big a job and expensive is it to do your own. I have a large garage and most woodworking tools. I am a retired die maker and carpenter with cabinet experience. Also a mechanic for 20 years. So any one give me an idea what is required? If i buy it Id like to restore her back to original and use it for Erie.

I'd recommend you send a PM to our resident member "Zool" He's restoring a similar boat and can give you some good insight. ;)
