Hello All:
I have been lurking as a guest all boating season. I as a new boater would expect others have tried thier research into the right prop that only ended in expensive trial and error, today I would be no different. In the end I have found a prop that I fell in love with. I will begin to try to share my results to help the new novice boater in the right direction in sifting through all the published research of others.
The Boat.
1994 Glastron ssv-175
merc 3.0lx alpah 1
running wt approx 1600 2000 LBS
boat speed and tach readings
org prop 13.75x21 3 blade 4000 rpm 40MPH
Prop #2 Unknown MFG
14x20 4 blade 4000 37mph if cold and dense out
Prop #3 MW Vortex
12x19 3 blade 4100 30 mph Hot and humind
prop #4 Unknown MFG
14x23 3 blade 3500 30 mph hot
MW Vortex
These were all AL
Final prop
SS 14.25x19 4500 and 45mph!!
Turbo 1
and the handling is much better, Little to no ventlition, great bow rise, and good stearn lift with not chinawalking.
And for people that do not like the carb on the motor with the 2000 rpm dead spot, it has went away and increasded throttle response.
I hope people can use this to giude themselves through all the wealth of information. To all of you that post, I put it together because of you.
Thanks
Reeves
