I've said before, this was the new upcoming "Entitlement".

STORY HERE

America lags behind other countries that have universal broadband deployment, Pelosi said; but the Democrats' agenda "guarantees" that every American will have affordable access to broadband within five years.

"We also believe that the nationwide deployment of high speed, always-on broadband and Internet and mobile communications will fuel the development of millions of new jobs in the United States," Pelosi said.
Let's see... They claim the ports are a mess, we know the borders are, we are at war, the list goes on and on. The only thing DEMS have to offer is free internet??? In the words of Linus... we're all doomed Charlie Brown!   :(

Yep, the economy that brought almost all of these innovations to the market cannot be trusted to commercialise them completely . . . . hmmmmmm. Thank God we have Nancy and her friends to fix it all for us . . . :p :p :p

If everyone has broadband... that would mean everyone needs a computer as well. I smell a big... fast... stinking... government program here. This reminds me of Feingold's comments... insane statements with next to no accountability!

Sean

Re: Here it comes!

Is this how it goes?

First the Government insures that everyone can get it.

Then the Government is called in to police it.

Then the Government tries to control it.

Then the Government, having spent so much on internet business, can no longer provide essential services soooooooooo.

The Government begins to tax the internet!

Mark my words, that is where it is headed. As big as it is and what you say? the Government will not try to produce revenue from it?

Could be on to something there Boomer... and... they'll tax those who "have" more so that the "have-nots" can have free internet and computers.

My frustration here is that ...as usual ...the Dems priorities are all fracked up!

Re: Here it comes!

Bunch of people worried about tapping into al quida calls but would be willing to accept free government internet?

Nothing, I mean nothing is free. Who do you suppose will pay for this? Just another tax.

Boomer I think you missed the part where they hire tens of thousands of bureaucrats to oversee something????????
