I just read an article about Indiana having the smallest amount of public hunting land in the states.

I travel quite a bit in Northern IN (Wakarusa) in the fall and was planning on bringing my bow on a couple trips. Is it legal there to hunt on private land if it is not posted? I saw a couple bruisers in some cornfields up there and was wondering if I could just park and walk in and set up in a woodrow. Not a lot of houses around so I don't know about asking permission.

You can hunt private land here as long as it is not posted. I have hunted the same pieces for years and know the landowners well. Is it the same there?

Re: Hey Carpy

Sorry it took me so long to respond.

It is illegal in Indiana to hunt private land without permission, even if its not posted.

I have access to some pretty good private land, and I have to run people off this land every year.

The big problem in Indiana now is that the really prime private land is tied up in hunt leases. There are many places that I used to hunt, that I can't step foot on now.

Many of these idiots that lease this land are rich idiots that don't know the first thing about hunting.

Hunting in Indiana is slowly becoming a rich mans sport, which is really sad. :(

What a waste. One good thing though, there is quite a bit of Amish up there, they are pretty neighboryly, and they own a ton of land. If I stopped by a farm with a gift, they might let me in

What kinda gift you talkin about?

I don't think they would have much use of Spinners Hepa suit. :p

You could offer to do some chores in exchange for hunting,..........you might offer to milk the bulls...............I mean cows. :D

The Amish from where I am from are really into carpentry tools, so if I brought them a couple Estwing hammers, that may get me in for a few afternoon hunts. I din't think of the chore thing though, that's a good idea.

It only gets one pull, if milk doesnt come out, I'm milking the "udder" one :D
