These first readings I posted a few weeks ago, when the cav plate was even with bottom of boat.
Boat is a 19 foot aluminum,,,motor is a 1993 Johnny 120..
1st prop,3 blade stainless(not sure of brand) 12 3/8 by 21 pitch,approx 41-42 mph,5100-5200 rpm's with motor trimmed to top line.

2nd prop,Michigam Ballistic(stainless) 13 3/8 by 19 pitch,,44-45 mph,5400-5500 rpm's with motor trimmed to top line.

3rd prop,,14 by 17 pitch OMC 3 blade aluminum,,41-42 mph,,5400-5500 rpm,s.

I had a new 13 3/8 by 19 Rapture but I did not want to try it,,,it looked like that if you put the hub together it would look deffinetly used and would not be returnable. Would the rapture of gave any better top end,,i have heard a lot of guys talk about the Rapture.
If I went with a 17 pitch ballistic, would I possibly lose some top end. What other props would possibly give me better top end,,I do not care as much about bottom end. Thanks for any and all info.

This info is from today.I raised the motor 1 1/2 inches, which is as far as it would go without drilling more holes,,but it sits pretty high now.

Prop #1 12 3/8 by 21 pitch stainless, not sure of brand(old results at top of page) 23psi on water pres,,approx 41-42 mph,,5200 rpms,,,with motor trimmed the whole way up,water pres dropped to 18 psi.

Prop # 2 Ballistic 13 3/8 by 19 pitch(old results at top of page) 24 psi water pres,,,42-43 mph,,,,5600 rpms,,with very little blowout with prop trimmed past last line on gague.

Prop #3 Michigan Aluminum 13 3/8 by 17 pitch(old results at top) 24 psi water pres,,,42-43 mph,,5600 rpms,,,6000 rpms with motor trimmed to max, prop blowing out a bit when going past next to last line on trim

Prop #4 Stiletto 13 3/8 by 19 pitchStainless(just got this prop so no previous results)
22psi water pressure,,approx 43-43 mph,,5200 rpms,,,it seemed like when I tried to go past the t in trim, the prop seemed like it was blowing out, would this be the correct term. I guess I was hoping for more/better results with raising the motor,,and with the Stiletto,,but my gains were very minimal.Raising the motor seemed to make very little difference.Any other secrets to pickup a few more mph,,or is this hull just not very efficent. I sat on the bank as my nephew went by at speed and trimmed, and I was amazed at how much boat was still in the water.I have not tried the rapture,,would this possibly give a few more mph.

Re: Hey Dhadley,new prop results

We did have approx 70-80 pounds extra in the boat today, between my chunky nephew and my dog.

I can't speak for DH, but if you could get your hands on a 13.5X18" Raker, I think you'd see better numbers on the higher eng. heigth.

Dhadley IS the experience and has a better idea of what prop may fit your app. better, But I've done simular testing, and found that an OMC Raker had the bite and bow-lift I needed. The Raker is designed to break the water's surface, and in my application, I had what I thought to be ventilation but the speed went up with the RPM...With your app, I would see what DH suggests, and as a general rule, SS props bite just a little better and are more efficient.
I notice the testing of the Ballistic on yours shows decent numbers, in my case, the ballistic blew out much quicker than the Raker.

Actually,,in my testing the aluminum prop was not a Michigan wheel,it was the same OMC that I used in my original tests, which was 14 by 17 pitch.

All boats and props are different but as a general rule, as you increase the X dimension less trim is required so, since you've raised the engine, you might try a little less trim.
And Kenny'z right on about that Raker prop, I've got one and it's one of my favorite all-around props.

c/6
Hooty
