Hey there, where you get the precise diagrams you post? Like the one you post about the seal thingy (slinger). I read alot of post and everytime you post a diagram, it's like staight to the point and shows exactly whast one needs to know. Which book do I need to get so I won't have to get on here and ask a bunch of questions?

A bazzillion years of experience does that.

He told someone, once, where he gets the pics from - we haven't heard from them since ;)

Re: Hey Don S

I don't like to be asked for personally with a boat question. It's like telling everyone else there opinion does't count. But with this type post I don't see any problem.
Many of the pictures come from the service manuals (I have a lot of them in .pdf format) others I may scan, some I draw myself, sometimes photo's (Like the seal tool) and mark on the photo in Microsoft Paint.
Like Bondo mentioned, a lot of the .pdf files for service bulletins and manuals come from boatfix. Here's the link.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/mainmenu.pdf

As far as which manual you should get, whatever it is, get the OEM manuals. One for the engine and one for the drive.

DonS
dont think of it as no one eles opinion matters. many folks post and many have good suggestions that folks in the trade know but the liability prevents from saying.
your a professional and your time spent here is apeciated. hopefully this fall ill make a trip out to see ya.
when I get my pics from lake Guri venezuela developed ill send ya some. 23ft marathon aluminim hulls with twin sport jet 175´s running 44mph,by my GPS , through a flooded jungle was wild to say the least.

Does Merc have their manuals on a disk that you could purchase if you were a dealer. I mean not online on Mercnet.

I about forgot about that, may have to look at it again. I posted it to my site one time, left it on to long and they almost made me pay for the extra space. I have 5 MB of space and that clip alone was 55 MB.
I'll be waiting for your pictures. Hope you can make it up next fall, but summer would be better. Salmon and Halibut is real slow in the fall, to say nothing of the weather. We had 196" of rain last year, at least this year is starting out wet, hate those droughts..... :D

Rabbitdawg, not that I have heard of. In reality, they are a pain to work with, a real book is much better.
