When you removed the "SB" upper half, you must have had to remove the rubber or plastic insert in the metal trim piece at joint (to access screws).
From your photos, this trim looks like that on my Slikker. Were you able to reuse that rubber trim? How did you remove it? Or?
If you replaced it with new, gotta source you can advise me to?
Thanks,
PC_Slikker
(thats a trial handle, whatcha think?)

You can find the rubber rubrail replacement in several catalogs...West Marine, etc. Another replacement option is to use 1/2 inch rope of the color of your choice. Seen it done and it looks nice, but don't know how they did it.

It is easy to get off, remove the endcap (mine were on each side of the outboard cuttout on the transom), and grab it. You can then just pull straight out at a 90 degree angle from the boat and it will pull out all the way around, very easy. Now, getting it back in is more fun, and I learned a valuable lesson on this one. You have to push it in so the lips are in as far as you can get them, then take a hammer and whack the rubber. That sets the lips into the aluminum slots. The mistake I made was I wasn't pulling and stretching as I went, so when I got around to the other end, I was over a foot short. I left it that way, but in the fall I will remove it and put it back on right, or get new rubber to put on.

The meaning is to heat the rubber in a barrel with hot water before assembling. Makes it very easy to stretch and bend, gives a great result.
