I was curious, how is the hunting there in your neck of the woods? Is most of the land there tied up in ranches? Do you guys have much public land?
Around here, most of the land is privately owned, but not what I would call "ranches". On average, most farmers around here own 100 to 200 acres. Its hard to get permission anymore since a lot of landowners have decided to lease the hunting rights to their properties.
Just wondering what things were like in the big 'ol state of Texas.

P.S. I am still deciding whether to put my photo up on member pictures........I figure you guys probably are wondering what an Indiana boy, ("Hoosier"), with a name like carphunter looks like.....................Just think of Tom Cruise...................I don't know why, but just think of him. :D

Re: Hey, JB

Very little public land in this part of Texas, CH. My 120 acres is a small holding. Most cattle and horse ranches are much bigger and allow no big game hunting at all.

Most big game hunting is by lease of fallow range or by permission of friends and neighbors, etc.

Rural Texicans, like most rural people, are suspicious of strangers.

Don't put your picture up. This is a family site and it might frighten the children. :p
