A stupid question I suppose, but I'll ask anyway.

I've got a pristine '99 GT droptop about which I love everything but one. I can't find a remote button to open the trunk! Nor can I find a reference to one in any literature. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that there isn't one.

But I just can't force myself to accept it!

Anyone with a '98 through '04, do you have a remote trunk open button? If so, WHERE? (Sniff...)

Thanks guys.

look in the glove box. If you still can find it open the trunk with the key and inspect the latch for electrical connection. No connection means it has no opener.

Admiral has had three since 99. The buttons have been on front left kick panel (near the hood latch), on the center console and in the glove box.

My y2k is in the same place. Thats where my screename came from. There is one on the key fob also. You can check behind the trunk panel on the drivers side to see if the remote module is there if so you can purchase any ford remote on ebay and program in it about 30 seconds yourself.

If you can't find it, but are sure that there is the electrical setup for it (i.e. you can open it from the key fob), there is a kit you can get from Ford to add it in the glovebox. I did exactly that for my 2009 KR.

Found it in the glove box, as several of you described. Funny I had never noticed it, even when looking all over the car.

So now there is nothing about the car I dislike...

Thanks guys...!

In the old days, we didn't even think about having a remote button to open the trunk. We were just glad to HAVE a trunk.

I disconnectd mine. Someone breaks into your car, they can get in your trunk.

Yeh cause they would never pull the strap on the top of the back seat and fold the seat down to access the trunk. Right?

Everyone's situation is different. I have a speaker box with 2 12's that sit against the seats. You can't get by those from the back seat.

Also, asking someone to crawl into a dark trunk from the back seat to steal stuff is adding a lot more time and effort. My car has been broken into twice, and both times it was on the street while I was in the area, no way they would have had time to go in through the back seat.
