I have a trim pump from a 40 hp.see pics.Will this pump work the trim on my 85 It looks like the same pump.Here are the #s on the tag.

that pump is good for any horsepower. it looks like either a factory second or somebody has taken it apart. The cable grommet is facing wrong way.

Since you are near the ocean then get some kind of undercoating or sealer and goop up the motor seams between Metal and plastic. Also get a slab of zinc like mercury # 818298A1 ($11) and find a handy place to bolt it onto or near the trim system. If you cut the mercury anode in half it fits nicely onto bottom of trim housing. Run a length SS braided leader with ring terminals from corner of pump to the zinc.

Thanks,I removed it from a blown motor years ago in Michigan.So it's never been in salt.
It could have been worked on.Thanks for the help.Jerry
