Thanks, Does anyone do hi performance work on these motors (225HO Johnson - w/carbs)? Is there a source for hi performance parts? What is the major drawback of mild to moderate modifications?
THANKS to all!
hello
I quit modifying motors years ago due to warrenty issues. speed cost money. how fast ya wanna go. remember that as you modify one subsytem the rest must be modified as well or there is no reliability. like the guys that stuck wild cams in their stock 350 chevys with stock converters and rear gears. you must study the issues and make careful changes. as more power is made more rpm is nessasary. more power means more stress. not to mention more prop chganges, I think DHadley messes with modifications and there are some shops that still do. personnaly I am over porting and reed changing and carving up carbs and such. do all that work then the guy runs it with year old gas and wonders why it flew all apart and the piston skirts look like they were painted with black laquer. so speed cost money and how fast ya wanna go?
good luck and post us if you modify it
Thats a good hull to work with. It should respond well to torque changes. Since you didnt mention which block you have we'll assume its a 3.0 liter since there were only a very few 3.3 carb'd blocks around.

You already have the 250 port timimng and carbs. Hopefully you have the lightining gearcase.

Gordon at Monty Racing has the pistons and sleeves to convert your 3.0 to a 3.3. I would start with a phone call to him at 772-336-9508.

Good luck!
