Re: high five question
Joe, what I show for the 175 XRI is a WOT range of 5,000 to 5,600 RPM and a gear ratio of 1.87 to 1, if I am wrong on this then my formulas will be wrong also, so please check this.I also show that a 19" prop at 1.87 gear ratio at 5,700 RPM shoild be getting a theoretical speed of 49 MPH with 10% prop slip. But I show your High 5 has a slip ratio of 22% at the RPM, normally the more blades on a prop the more drag that is created by each blade in front of the other one disturbs the water before the next blade gets there. I can tell you that is way too much slip for any efficency of that propeller on your boat. But High 5 definitely have there place on some boats. I am not sure that is true for your deck boat, I wish I was but I am not qualified to answer that question. Here are the Slip numbers for that prop though, and maybe somebody else can help you further.
