high horsepower alpha 1

Anyone heard of a front nose cone seperating from the front ot the lower unit on boats traveling over 75 mph.

I've seen Alphas come apart in Many ways......<br />But,<br />The vertical shaft is Usually the First thing to Break.......<br /><br />You're Going Too Fast,<br />With Too Much HorsePower...........<br /><br />Alphas Self Destruct, with 300hp or more......

The dude we bought the boat from has had three drive couplers replaced on it. It is a 454 450 hp. The boat came with a 454 and a alpha 1 drive he just bumped up the horsepower a bit much. She runs 78 mph on a gps. It has a drive shower on it. He has never broke a shaft yet. Destroyed 3 couplers. Now it has a bravo coupler on it.
