High Idle

Boat ran great for me on a 4 day fishing trip ('06 Yamaha F60TLR). There was just one time when I pulled up to a spot, put motor in idle, and it was revving around 2K rpm. I put it back into gear, then back into idle, and it was fine, and never did it again.

Is there something I need to be inspecting/cleaning/tweaking? I assume everything has a cause and things just don't happen as a fluke.

Thanks!

Re: High Idle

be sure to check you shift/throttle cables and linkage, make sure nothing is sticking.

Re: High Idle

My 2nd on check, clean, lubricate all throttle linkages and cables. Not very good or safe for throttle to stick like that, somebody could get hurt! Good Luck!

Also not good to throw it in gear at 2000RPM's...could break something very easily!

Re: High Idle

Timing being advanced could do this also.
Not sure if your motor has one but make sure the TPS is not hanging up as I think the electronics controls the timing with the input from that maybe
